OHPPBT's Old Hickory Lake Tournament results for June 19, 2010 @ Black Jack Cove Marina.

The morning of Saturday, June 19th 2010 was hot and humid. OHPPBT had our Old Hickory Lake Bass Tournament out of Bl;ack Jack Cove Marina. It was going to be even hotter, but a quick moving thunderstorm soaked many of our anglers and helped hold of the extreme heat for a few more hours. The thermometer ended up in the mid 90's before the day was done. The lake was very crowded with fishing boats and pleasure boaters. There was 5 bass tournaments (that I know of) that fished Old Hickory Lake that day. The fish had started moving out to the drops and they were ready to bite. We had many anglers that brought in bigger fish than normal. For the first time in our tournament that I know of we had a tie for Big Fish. Normally our first few places are close. Not this week, Rober Garner was 5 Lbs. from the 2nd place team. Robert Garner finished in 1st place with 5 fish for 18.47 Lbs. and tied for Big Fish with a 5.56 Lbs. large mouth bass. Charles Merkle was the other winner Big Fish Winner. He had a 5.56 Lbs large mouth bass as well. We all got to enjoy the fresh doughnuts provided by Dunkin Donuuts of Hermitage and Mt. Juliet. I want to thank all of the sponsors of the 2010 Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament for all they do for our members. I also want to thank our members for making us the hottest bass tournament in Tennessee. I want to remind all members to use boating edicate when you are fishing our tournaments or just out on the lake playing. We need to lead by example by the way we treat each other and give other anglers plenty of courtesy while fishing. I am very proud of the OHPPBT and our members. I also want to thank our Asst. Director Scott Thorpe and all of our tournament helpers: Bob Parry, Detroit Brown, Dayton Wauford Jr. and Eric Walls for all the hard work and time you put in to each event. If you did not get your t-shirt or jacket order in I will extend the deadline to place your order until Monday June 28th 2010. Email or call me to request an order form. I look forward to seeing many of you on our Tuesday Night Tournaments out of Shutes Branch on Old Hickory Lake. I can not stress enough how important it is that you remember your boat number. This may lead to a loss of your weight if you give us the wrong number. If you need to write it down with a pen on your hand. I appreciate your help in this matter. I also want to invite everyone to the Black Jack Cove Marina $5000.00 guaranteed 1st place Bass Tournament on Saturday July 31st 2010. This is an open tournament that anyone can enter and fish. Call Brad @ (615) 497-7373 or email me @ ohppbt @aol.com for more information. The tournament results and the pictures of the 1st Place and Big Fish winners are posted just below this article. The OHPPBT Points are updated and ready to be viewed on this site.

Please keep all of the anglers that were involved in the nightime boating accident on Percy Priest and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Two of them are OHPPBT Members and the other two have extreme injuries and are anglers that many of us know. They were not fishing an OHPPBT event when the accident took place. We hope that all of you have a speedy recovery and are back on the lakes soon.

Check out Ace Hardware of Mt. Juliet's new and improved fishing department. They now have a tackle consultant and feature many hard to find and custom baits. I also want to Ace Hardware of Mt. Juliet for the new promotion they are doing with us as they are now giving us two $25.00 Gift Certificates for our remaining tournaments. Don't forget if you show your OHPPBT 2010 paid membership card you will get 10% off any regular priced items in the store.

June 5th 2010 Percy Priest Lake OHPPBT Results

We had our first tournament for the year at Fate Sanders Marina, our new home on Percy Priest Lake. It was nice to have a shelter and the facilities that Fate Sanders was able to provide for our anglers. Since we have changed ramps from Long Hunter we now have great facilities to launch from on Old Hickory & Percy Priest Lakes. I appreciate all of tournament helpers & those who helped out. I also want to thank all of those who moved their vehicles to the designated area. When we or any other tournament goes out of Fate Sanders Marina they want to fill the gravel upper lot up first before we park by the ramp. It was tough on the water for most of the anglers. Only 23 of the 57 boats caught a keeper fish. We only had 1 five fish limit brought to the scales. There were a lot of boats that only had one fish. The weather was hot (low 90's) with a light wind and a lot of pleasure boaters on the water. All OHPPBT Members that want info, or want to order silk screened OHPPBT T-shirts and/or embroidered jackets must place their order by our next tournament on 6/20/2010. You can email me,  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and enter the words "order form" in the subject line and I will send you an order form and a detailed explanation of prices, sizes and colors. The points are updated and the winners and big fish winners are pictured below along with the tournamwent results. Thanks to all of our sponsors and members for making the Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament the best tournament in Middle Tennessee.

Here are the tournament results. Only the anglers that brought fish to the scales are listed below.

Fish, Floods and Fun? May 22nd 2010 OHPPBT Tournament Report and Results!

We were all glad to get back to fishing tournaments & some since of normality after the flooding in Middle Tennessee had the lakes and rivers out of their banks.  Many of us welcomed the event to break up the seriousness of the devastation as we needed some R & R. We extend our thoughts and prayers to all of those who suffered from the flooding. We were scheduled to blast off at 5:30 am but mother nature had other plans (again). We had a one hour delay (for safety) due to the extreme foggy conditions on the lower end of the lake. With little to no wind the fog sat there for a while as we waited to blast off. The extra time gave all of us a chance to visit a little more than we usually do. Black Jack Cove served us a great breakfast, for those who were hungry. This was the first time that we (OHPPBT) had fished as a group since the floods had forced us to cancel our May 8th tournament on Percy Priest Lake. The day ended up being a heat wave with little to no wind to help keep us cool. It also was a very busy day on the lake as it seemed that every boat in Nashville was on the water making waves. This was the first really hot and sunny weekend we have had in a while so the lake was crowded.

Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament (OHPPBT)  fundraiser for the flood victims goes better than expected. We added a special prize drawing for this tournament with 100% of the proceeds to go to a local victims. I went to our sponsors and asked for help and they did. I went to our anglers and asked for help and they did as well. We decided to raise some money for local flood victims and we donated it to the American Red Cross of Nashville (Serving all of Middle Tennessee). OHPPBT gave everybody that made a donation 1 ticket per every $5.00 donation. We had 27 different drawing winners to get a total of over $3300.00 (total retail value) in prizes. We were very proud of our anglers and from the public who chipped in to make this a big success. It was our honor to do our part in helping our fellow Tennesseans, friends and neighbors. Ruthellen Harris, a Rep. From the American Red Cross of Nashville came to our wiegh in and watched us give out the prizes. The Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament and our members stepped up to raise some money for the cause. We presented a check for $1600.00 to The American Red Cross after our event on Saturday in front of the crowd @ Black Jack Cove Marina on Old Hickory Lake. I would challenge all local bass clubs to step up and join in to give back to the community to help the flood victims and volunteers.

Our first place winners took off before we got a chance to get a picture, so their picture is MIA.

Here are the Tournament results from our May 22nd OHPPBT Event on Old Hickory Lake @ Black Jack Cove Marina. The Year To Date points are posted and ready as well.

Above are the anglers in order as they finished. Only the anglers that brought fish to the scales are listed. Please make sure to check the updated schedule on this web site for changes made from our printed schedule. OHPPBT's next tournament will be on Percy Priest Lake and we will launch from Fate Sanders Marina.

I want to thank OHPPBT Members for all they do to make our tournaments go smoother.  Asst. Director Scott Thorpe, Dayton Wauford Jr., Bob Parry, Brad Robinson, Eric Walls & Troy "Detroit" Brown. We also had Members Kevin Meeks & Rodney Johnson helping this week. We need to give a special thanks to Mary Parry for comming out to help me with the raffle tickets.

Brad invites everyone to fish one of our other tournaments: Sundays @ Cedar Creek Marina Safe light to 1:30 (only on the Sundays after OHPPBT events) or Tuesdays Evenings @ Shutes Branch  from 6-10pm. Call or email Brad for any questions. (615) 497-7373 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

26 Winners will get over $3150.00 in door prizes from their donation. OHPPBT & our sponsors step up with donations for prizes to raise money for TN Flood Relief.

I am very proud to live and play in Tennessee as we are the Volunteer State. We have proven that in these tough times as the Floods of 2010 have touched many of our OHPPBT Members, sponsors, families, friends & co-workers. We are a very lucky group to be able to fish and enjoy the outdoors while so many others struggle to replace their homes, cars, trucks, keepsakes, meals and even loved ones. Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament (OHPPBT) is proud to announce we are going to have a fund raiser to give all the proceeds to a local flood relief via The American Red Cross Middle Tennessee Chapter. During our next bass tournament on May 22nd 2010 @ Black Jack Cove Marina (previously Old Hickory Marina) on Old Hickory Lake we want to invite the community to our weigh in for a special prize drawing that we will explain in the next two paragraphs below. We will still have our normal bass tournament and our regular door prizes that is for our members that they get with their paid entry and the pay out for the tournament will go as normal.

MAY 8TH OHPPBT EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO RECORD FLOODING IN MIDDLE TN!

(MAY 15TH BLACK JACK COVE $5000.00 GUARANTEED 1ST PLACE TOURNAMENT IS BEING RESCHEDULED (DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED) UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO THE FLOODING AND THE CUMBERLAND RIVER SYSTEM AND ISSUES IN MIDDLE TN.)
I know that many of our OHPPBT Members and/or their families have been affected by the recent flooding in Middle Tennessee. I have spoke with the Army Corps of Engineers about the predicted lake levels for this weekend. Percy Priest lake is presently @ or around +14 feet above summer pool and this is considered above flood level. They are not expecting to have the lake down to a level that would allow us to launch & have parking. The facility/ramp that we are scheduled to launch from (Fate Sanders Marina) and is not expected to be available due the natural disaster of epic proportion that we are going through. No matter what my decision is I know it will please some of you and anger others. My main concern is safety and having a facility that we can use that is not going to be shut down or restricted due to the water level. I want all of you that were affected by the flooding to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. The U.S. Coast Guard has closed the sections of the Cumberland River System and The Tennessee River System to pleasure boaters & anglers. This is due to the extreme danger. I know the Stones River is not in this restriction but as I listed above some of my concerns I have came to a decision. With all things considered we are cancelling the Saturday May 8th Tournament on Percy Priest Lake @ Fate Sanders Marina. WE WILL NOT RESCHEDULE THIS EVENT AND WE WILL LOWER THE NUMBER OF TOURNAMENTS REQUIRED TO FISH THE FISH OFF BY 1 (ONE). This way no one will be affected as far as our points race from this major natural disaster in our area. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions, concerns or complaints that you may have. (615) 497-7373 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  I wanted to give all of you as much of an advance notice as possible while still trying to give the lake levels enough time to go down. (it is not going down fast enough).
We will keep all of you affected by the flooding you in our thoughts and prayers.
 Brad
