We had our first tournament for the year at Fate Sanders Marina, our new home on Percy Priest Lake. It was nice to have a shelter and the facilities that Fate Sanders was able to provide for our anglers. Since we have changed ramps from Long Hunter we now have great facilities to launch from on Old Hickory & Percy Priest Lakes. I appreciate all of tournament helpers & those who helped out. I also want to thank all of those who moved their vehicles to the designated area. When we or any other tournament goes out of Fate Sanders Marina they want to fill the gravel upper lot up first before we park by the ramp. It was tough on the water for most of the anglers. Only 23 of the 57 boats caught a keeper fish. We only had 1 five fish limit brought to the scales. There were a lot of boats that only had one fish. The weather was hot (low 90's) with a light wind and a lot of pleasure boaters on the water. All OHPPBT Members that want info, or want to order silk screened OHPPBT T-shirts and/or embroidered jackets must place their order by our next tournament on 6/20/2010. We were all glad to get back to fishing tournaments & some since of normality after the flooding in Middle Tennessee had the lakes and rivers out of their banks.  Many of us welcomed the event to break up the seriousness of the devastation as we needed some R & R. We extend our thoughts and prayers to all of those who suffered from the flooding. We were scheduled to blast off at 5:30 am but mother nature had other plans (again). We had a one hour delay (for safety) due to the extreme foggy conditions on the lower end of the lake. With little to no wind the fog sat there for a while as we waited to blast off. The extra time gave all of us a chance to visit a little more than we usually do. Black Jack Cove served us a great breakfast, for those who were hungry. This was the first time that we (OHPPBT) had fished as a group since the floods had forced us to cancel our May 8th tournament on Percy Priest Lake. The day ended up being a heat wave with little to no wind to help keep us cool. It also was a very busy day on the lake as it seemed that every boat in Nashville was on the water making waves. This was the first really hot and sunny weekend we have had in a while so the lake was crowded.

  Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament (OHPPBT)  fundraiser for the flood victims goes better than expected. We added a special prize drawing for this tournament with 100% of the proceeds to go to a local victims. I went to our sponsors and asked for help and they did. I went to our anglers and asked for help and they did as well. We decided to raise some money for local flood victims and we donated it to the American Red Cross of Nashville (Serving all of Middle Tennessee). OHPPBT gave everybody that made a donation 1 ticket per every $5.00 donation. We had 27 different drawing winners to get a total of over $3300.00 (total retail value) in prizes. We were very proud of our anglers and from the public who chipped in to make this a big success. It was our honor to do our part in helping our fellow Tennesseans, friends and neighbors. Ruthellen Harris, a Rep. From the American Red Cross of Nashville came to our wiegh in and watched us give out the prizes. The Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament and our members stepped up to raise some money for the cause. We presented a check for $1600.00 to The American Red Cross after our event on Saturday in front of the crowd @ Black Jack Cove Marina on Old Hickory Lake. I would challenge all local bass clubs to step up and join in to give back to the community to help the flood victims and volunteers.

I am very proud to live and play in Tennessee as we are the Volunteer State. We have proven that in these tough times as the Floods of 2010 have touched many of our OHPPBT Members, sponsors, families, friends & co-workers. We are a very lucky group to be able to fish and enjoy the outdoors while so many others struggle to replace their homes, cars, trucks, keepsakes, meals and even loved ones. Old Hickory Percy Priest Bass Tournament (OHPPBT) is proud to announce we are going to have a fund raiser to give all the proceeds to a local flood relief via The American Red Cross Middle Tennessee Chapter. During our next bass tournament on May 22nd 2010 @ Black Jack Cove Marina (previously Old Hickory Marina) on Old Hickory Lake we want to invite the community to our weigh in for a special prize drawing that we will explain in the next two paragraphs below. We will still have our normal bass tournament and our regular door prizes that is for our members that they get with their paid entry and the pay out for the tournament will go as normal.

  PLEASE COME OUT TO THE OHPPBT Event and HELP the AMERICAN RED CROSS of Middle Tennessee. HELP THE FLOOD VICTIMS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE! Come to our weigh in @ Black Jack Cove Marina in Old Hickory TN to help. We will have a special drawing where you give a $5.00 donation for flood relief and we will give you a door prize ticket. You will get one ticket per each $5.00 donation. 100% of the money will be given to the local charity for flood victims. The AMERICAN RED CROSS Chapter serving all of Middle TN.  We will give away 10-15 prizes with a minimum retail prize package of around a $100.00 value. We will give out nearly $2500.00 (retail value) in door prizes awarded to the lucky ticket winners that will be drawn out in front of the crowd at the weigh in May 22, 2010. The drawing will be held around 1:30 pm after our tournament is over. The NASHVILLE PREDATORS has teamed up with OHPPBT and are providing 2 sets of 2 Premium Lower Bowl Tickets for the 2010-2011 NHL Season. See the complete list of prizes below. Several of the prizes don't have anything to do with fishing, so all members of the community are urged to attend and donate for a great cause. You might even go home with a prize or two.

You DO NOT have to be an OHPPBT Member to make a donation & enter this drawing. If you don't want to enter and you just want to give please come down as we will award 100%  of the proceeds to the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Crosss to benefit the local Tennessee flood victims. We will try to have a representative from the The American Red Cross at the event to accept the donation. All OHPPBT Members & Officers wish all of the flood victims in Middle TN a speedy recovery to getting back on your feet in these tough times. We will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers as we wish you well. Per the American Red Cross make checks payable to OHPPBT as we will present the Am. Red Cross of Nashville (they serve all of Middle TN) with one big check from OHPPBT at the event. This makes it much easier on them from an accounting standpoint.
